Can someone please advise on how to print out a list of my inks collection showing colored swatches or panel?
I’ve tried printing from various web browsers but the page is not formatted, nor are there any colors showing.
Is there a way of doing this, please, as it would be very handy taking it to pen/ink collectors fairs to identify inks that you haven’t got?
I’d also like to know how to do this if anyone has any ideas! ![]()
I was able to copy my list of inks from the website and paste it into an Excel spreadsheet. It kept the rows and columns intact with minimal formatting but it did not copy the color swatches.
However, I’m not sure that printing the color swatches would be all that useful due to the differences in printers, printer inks, and other variables. Even looking at the color swatches on different computer monitors produces different color values.
IMO, the only way to know the true color of your bottle of ink is to do a physical swatch. I have a note book that I swatch all my inks in and I use it all the time.
Using Excel is a breeze, but without the color swatches being very disappointing.
I’m a photographer and therefore use professional photo editing software on my Macs continually, which do have e a very good screen, and on occasion I’ll use color calibrating software to ensure ‘true’ color is maintained, although I find there to be little change. But I do take your point that color rendering could be different due to system and printer interpretations between servers and clients. I was only thinking that swatches could be handy when comparing or seeking particular colors or hues of inks, instead of relying upon names and makes. I suppose I could always carry my actual swatch cards with me - even in this electronic age. Disappointing though.
So as a workaround you can take screenshots of your inks in both list and panel view. The latter being a better rendition.
But only choose the portion of the web browser screen that interests you and so using the appropriate multi-keys function to bring up the target-cursor, with the mouse select the area you wish to print and save that to a folder.
Move on down the screen and repeat until you have copied and saved the various screens presented. (You could save as one continuous page but that requires more cutting and pasting to fit your printer page size).
Once done find your folder and open each screenshot and print it, until you have all pages. Voilà, you’re done. Repeat the operation when you have enlarged your ink collection, commencing from where you left off.
you could also just pull up the inkswatch.com website and search for inks there. or mountians of ink. etc.
So cool to see everyone chiming in!
I’ve added a printing feature to my ever growing todo list, but I don’t really know when I’ll get around to it.
